What is lumpectomy

When a noncancerous tumor, such as a fibroadenoma of the breast, is removed, it is called a lumpectomy.

 

 

What to expect before surgery?

Before surgery, Dr. Monika Pansari conducts thorough counseling of the patient and the relatives regarding the treatment and expected outcomes. A mammogram or an ultrasound is usually done before the surgery to locate and mark the tumour, if it cannot be seen or felt. Drawings are made to mark the incisional lines. The surgery is performed under anesthesia.
